TiNA- She’s BACK & We are ON BOARD!!!
The Follower Newspaper is very delighted to announce that we are the official media partner for TiNA 2015.
Come the October long weekend, This is Not Art (TiNA) will reignite the creative fires for it’s 18th year! The long-running experimental arts festival will occupy a spectrum of spaces throughout the East End to bring you a jam-packed program of local & national arts. The National Young Writers Festival (NYWF), Critical Animals, Crack Theatre Festival and very special first-time guests, Ladyz in Noyz Australia, are all set to bring some of the freshest, rawest, most boundary pushin’ arts to the heart of Newcastle!
In addition to an abundance of performances and exhibitions, the various program streams will also feature master classes, talks, artistic community-building opportunities and professional development workshops.

Highlights this year include a double dose of endurance creativity from Crack Theatre’s '24 Hour Generator’- an intensive theatre-making program facilitated by esteemed theatre-maker Chris Ryan, and the ‘24 Hour Performance Poem’ by Perth performance poet Scott-Patrick Mitchell. Freya Newman, whistle-blower on PM Tony Abbott’s daughter’s questionable scholarship will also speak out publically for the first time as part of the ‘Press Freedom, Whistleblowing and National Security’ panel. And local artists Deb Mansfield & Maggie Hensel-Brown will collaborate with Chris Dolman on a quirky exhibition titled ‘Friends with Benefits: Sharing is Caring’- hosted from their share-house apartment.
With over 150 options for entertainment, inspiration, discussion and delight, it appeals to the creative community, innovators, change-makers, cultural vultures and the general public, young and old.

The Follower Newspaper, along with a few other choice local collaborators, will also be hosting a Super Freaky Arts Party to bring the freak right back into the arts & celebrate the wonderful weirdness of the festivities. It’s the perfect opportunity to connect with each other & the wider national arts community!
So keep your eyes on this here rag for all the most up-to-date TiNA news.
