Prepare your psychedelic transmission for 'Ocean Alley"

Ocean Alley brings to the stage the calming force of the beach, and the whispering sounds of your free conscious. Be entrapped in a state of psychic groove at The Cambridge Hotel this Friday, September the 11th. A group of close friends who have come together to create music that represents the laid back enigma that comes with the beach life. The freedom of the ocean surf is the only element worth writing music for in Ocean Alley’s belief.
Tell us a little about yourself!
We're a Psych-rock-reggae band, all growing up on the northern beaches. We all share lots of similar interests like surfing or just getting up to mischief outdoors
What is something most people don’t know about Ocean Alley?
That we were all really good mates before any of us realized we had any sort of talent at playing instruments

Have you been to Newcastle before?
The last time we we're in Newcastle we played at The Small Ballroom. It was our first Newcastle gig, the venue had a great stage setup and we shared the bill with a couple of other cool local bands. We love playing in new areas, and seeing how far our music has reached. We're keen to get back to Newy and play again, hopefully having an even better show this time around.
Can you tell us about ‘In Purple’?
With the In Purple EP we really wanted to start experimenting with a darker, grounded, and grittier sound, something that showed our progress and versatility as musicians. We all felt naturally inclined to give the new Tracks more of a light and shade feel; to always keep the listener on their toes wondering what was going to happen next
Your Triple J Unearthed bio mentions priding yourselves in your DIY ethics. Can you tell us more about this?
We've always been ones to do it ourselves ever since Ocean Alley was formed almost 5 years ago. Our diverse personalities and skill set always meant each of us had something different to bring to the group. We would organize our own shows, tie-dye our own merchandise and design all our logos

Dont forget to catch 'Ocean Alley' this Friday the 11th September at The Cambridge Hotel.
