This week is such an exciting week for Newcastle! Our beautiful and creative city is thriving with things to do this week- from culture, music, food, entertainment, festivals and much more!

NEWCASTLE CHINA WEEK | Monday 28th SEPT – Sunday 4th OCT

After much success in 2014, the Newcastle China Week returns 28th September and runs until the 4th October. This massive event showcases the growing cultural, social and economic relationship between China and the Hunter Region. Major events within the week include Newcastle Chinese Film Festival (Tower Cinemas 1-3 OCT), Newcastle China Noodle Market (Crown St 3 OCT evening) & more. To conclude the week-long celebrations, Beaumont Street HAMILTON will transform into its own lively & vibrant Chinatown for Newcastle China Festival. This festival celebrates traditional and contemporary Chinese culture, food, art and travel. Highlights include Chinese language introduction, Tai Chi workshops, extreme martial arts demonstrations, dumpling making & much more.

Tommyhawkes | The Lass O’Gowrie | Wednesday 30th October

Dark saxophone harmonies, raucous, angelic and a homemade electric mandolin, is this the new sound? ‘The Tomahawkes’ brings the sweet spot of punk to the stage and still provides the classy blues sound. Joined by local lady power bands such as Hey! Lady and the The Sufferjets, you don’t want to miss this! We will see you at The Lass this Wednesday!

Murray O'Kart | The Lass O'Gowrie | Thursday 1st October

Here it is - the first heat of THE FOLLOWER's profound new event series: MURRAY-O-KART 2015 Death Match Micro Arena Experience....5 lucky players will go through each heat round in pursuit of being crowned Newcastle's reigning champion of Mario Kart.

The festival we’ve all been waiting for is finally here! TiNA is an annual cultural and arts festival held in our very own backyard. The festival provides a platform for artists around the country to come together, share work, test ideas, meet new people and explore the coastal, creative and innovative hub that is our very own city of Newcastle.

With over 180 options for entertainment, inspiration, discussion and delight, this festival is one that can be enjoyed by anyone of all ages, and we can assure you, you WILL have fun!

We are hosting our very own Super Freaky Arts Party this Friday and you are all invited!! Come along to celebrate the official launch of TiNA!

This P{art}y will feature weirdo installations, live performances and solid tunes. It will be the perfect place to mingle with your weird and wonderful selves!

OLIVE TREE TURNS 7 | CIVIC PARK | Saturday 3rd OCT

The Olive Tree Markets are turning 7!!! A massive congratulations to JUSTINE, original co-founders Ally & Bec, and to all the stall holders past & present.

This Saturday 3rd OCT - stroll through the eclectic mix of market stalls including photography, illustration, printmaking, ceramics, fashion, jewelry, design & much more. Or sit back with delicious goodies & listen to the tunes of local talent.

Dashville Skyline Festival | Saturday 3rd September – Sunday 4th September

Dashville Skyline is a brand new Americana themed festival taking place in the Hunter Valley this October long weekend. The festival boasts a diverse range of around 30 internationally and locally known musicians.

Along with alternative-country, country rock, folk country and country soul music, the festival throws in the best American cuisine, cars and culture.
