Boy have we got a busy week this week! This week is jam packed with exciting happenings in Newcastle. There were just so many options to choose from, but we have managed to narrow down our top picks for the week into one blog post! Newcastle Theatre Company | Gaslight

‘Gaslight’ by Patrick Hamilton draws you into the world of Jack Manningham and his wife Bella – living in fog-bound London, during the latter part of Queen Victoria’s reign in 1880.

Join us for a chilling irresistible psychological drama that promises to keep you on the edge of your seat.

Monday 19th October | Wickham Park Hotel | Poetry

Head down to The Wickham Park Hotel this fine Monday evening for words and brews. Starting at 7:30, this will be a great night of poetry to be enjoyed by all.

Tuesday 20th October | The Edwards | The Design Kids

Calling all creative individuals in Newcastle!

The Design Kids provides industry knowledge, exposure and opportunities to students and graduates in the communication and design community. There is a focus on illu

stration, typography and graphic design, however all creatives are encouraged to attend!

The evening provides a relaxed and welcoming atmosphere for creative individuals to enjoy a beverage while mingling with fellow creatives.

The class starts at 6pm at The Edwards.

Tuesday 20th October | The Grand Hotel | Nathaniel Braddock

Nathaniel Braddock is playing at The Grand Hotel this Thursday night from 7:30pm. $15 for a full, and $10 for members/ concession. Come along for a great night of jazz!

Wednesday 21st October | The lass O’Gowrie | Back To The Future Party

This is the date Marty McFly arrives in the future! Perfect reason to go all out and celebrate the best film trilogy about time travel and DeLorean’s EVER!

Music for the night include Vanishing Shapes, The Main Guy and the Other Guys and The Lamplighters!

A costume for the night is essential!

Lass trivia tonight will also be Back to The Future themed- starting at 7pm!

Thursday 22nd October | Timeless Textiles | Italian Eye

Come along to Timeless Textiles this Thursday evening from 6pm to 8pm for the opening of ‘Italian Eye’ by Sylvia Watt.

Thursday 22nd October | City Hall | Peter Garrett in Conversation

Former Midnight Oil Front man Peter Garrett will be speaking to Newcastle Writers festival director Rosemarie Milsom tonight at Newcastle City Hall from 7:30pm.

This inspiring journey will trace his journey from the northern suburbs of Sydney through to university, his music career and time as an environmental activist, as well as the most recent period as a minister in two Labor governments.

Thursday 22nd October | Bar on The Hill | Back to the Bar: Regurgitator

Dust off your dancing shoes and get ready to come ‘Back to the Bar’ for the University for Newcastle’s first Bar on the Hill alumni reunion.

Featuring Aussie alternative heroes Regurgitator and an awesome line-up that includes Canberra rapper Citizen Kay, The Soorleys (recently returned from the US) and Newcastle favourites Fishfry/Pow Wow, Bernie Segedin and DJ Benny P!

All UON’s graduates, past and present staff, students and guests are invited to this special event as part on the University’s 50th anniversary celebrations! To book your tickets now!

Friday 23rd October | Catapult Dance | High tea and Mrs Woo + Marnie Palomares

Over an intensive three-week period at Catapult Dance Studios, local clothing designers High Tea with Mrs Woo are collaborating with acclaimed professional dancer Marnie Palomares to create new work to be shown informally this Friday 23rd October and Saturday 24th October.

Come along to support this OzCo funded program enabling local artists to work with visiting professional Dance artists. Entry is $10, which includes refreshments. Book your tickets now!

Friday 23rd October | The Stag and Hunter | The Dennis Boys Band

This Friday night local alt/country band ‘the Dennis Boys Band’ will be playing at The Stag and Hunter from 8pm.

Saturday 24th October | The Cambridge Hotel | The Beards

It’s been a hell of a decade for Australia’s favourite beard-themed propaganda rock band, and to celebrate, the Beards will be embarking on an anniversary tour of Australia this October!

They will be in Newcastle this Saturday night at The Cambridge Hotel from 8:30pm! Tickets are $30, purchase yours now!

Sunday 25th October | The Lass O’Gowrie | Lass is More

Murray’s Brewing co presents yet another edition of Lass is More! Come down to The Lass beer garden from 3pm and have some quality $5 angry man and house vodka while listening to some local electronic acts work their magic!

Music from 4pm includes M.O.O.N, Lifted, High Estate and E4444E.

Sunday 25th October | The Croatian | Sunday Music

This will be an amazing show! There will be great bands playing great tunes at The Croatian from 5pm.

Sunday 25th October | The Royal Exchange | Newcastle German Kino Society

Newcastle German Kino society invites you all to a night of German speaking, films, language and cultural exchange in the atmospheric setting of the Royal Exchange theatre. Members and guests are welcome!

The movie tonight is a drama titled ‘Vier Minuten’ / ‘Four Minutes’ and will have English subtitles.

Sunday 25th October | Newcastle Street Food festival

This Sunday an exciting “up market” outdoor lunchtime celebration of food, wine, music and culture will take place in the Market Square in Newcastle (outside Three Bears Kitchen). Well-known chef’s from local cafes and restaurants will join forces to whip up a delicious meal for you to enjoy.

Tickets are $150 per person and all proceeds will go to Soul café; a not for profit café who support the homeless and disadvantaged in Newcastle.
